Literacy Initiative: Reading Together whilst Staying Apart
📚 Reading Together whilst Staying Apart 📚
During lockdown, the boys in 4th, 5th and 6th class took part in a great initiative run by the Write to Read Project in St Patrick’s College, Dublin. Part of the initiative was a writing competition where the boys in 4th class had to write an alternative scene to the novel ‘The Accidental Adventures of Onion O’Brien the Secret Scientist’ by Jason Byrne and the boys in 5th and 6th had to writing an alternative ending/epilogue to the book ‘Resistance’ by Brian Gallagher.
A number of schools around Dublin, as well as ourselves, took part in this competition and we are delighted to announce that we had three overall winners from our school!
Well done to Michael O’Rourke (2nd prize winner) and Christopher Robinson (3rd prize winner) from 4th class and Kaiden Duffy (2nd prize winner) from 5th class. This is a great achievement for the boys who really impressed the judges with their writing abilities, including Brian Gallagher himself! ✍️✍️👏👏
